The goals of the Preschool Bridge program are to:

  • provide a developmentally appropriate learning environment where children are free to explore and grow academically, physically, socially, and emotionally.
  • Preschool Bridge student paintingprovide an introduction to Montessori Preschool curriculum for three year olds new to the school or for three year olds preferring less than a five day program.
  • provide an extension of the Toddler Curriculum for two year olds who have already completed a year in a Toddler Classroom, but are not yet ready, physically, emotionally, or socially for a Preschool classroom.

This classroom evolves through the year and serves as an introduction to the Preschool curriculum. In the beginning of the year, the environment resembles more a Toddler classroom where children are provided with hands-on activities designed to extend learning in the areas of cognition, gross & fine motor skills, language, independence, and social skills. By the middle of the year, as children are ready for more structured learning, more Preschool Montessori materials are phased into the environment with more formal lessons given.
